A fragment of the Garden of Remembering

Crispy thin cookies!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cream or milk
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 0.5 cups water
  • 0.75 cups butter


  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 5 cups flour

Directions

  1. Mix top ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a rolling boil. Boil for another two minutes, stirring constantly. Cool.
  2. Mix remaining ingredients in a mixing bowl, and blend in syrup. Cover or put in bag and let sit for at least a few hours.


  1. Heat oven to 350F.
  2. Using flour on all surfaces, roll out dough as thin as possible (approaching 1mm); cut out figures. Place on parchment paper or greased baking sheet.
  3. Bake about five minutes, until golden. Remove immediately.

Notes

Makes a few hundred cookies.
