One thing leapt immediately to mind when you wrote, 'We need management that is not just charismatic, not just good at giving speeches, but empathetic and compassionate, who genuinely understands our experiences' - people who are charismatic, or what passes for charismatic in some environments, and good at giving speeches are very rarely also empathetic and compassionate.
